Peanut Butter Fudge

If you are a peanut butter lover, don’t miss this recipe. Fudge is a sweet made from sugar, which gives it its characteristic texture and flavors. However, many of its ingredients are replaced, for example in this case, we will make peanut butter fudge.

This dessert is very simple to prepare, and you will be surprised by the amount of flavor it can bring. You can use it to consume it after dinner or as an ingredient in other kinds of preparations, being a low-cost dessert that you can have on hand in case you have any kind of craving.

Peanut butter fudge ingredients

  • 50 grams of peanut butter
  • 175 ml milk
  • 50 grams of salted peanuts
  • 450 grams of brown sugar

Preparation

Before you start preparing your peanut butter fudge, we recommend that you cover a large, deep plate with wax paper. This will save you work for later. In case you don’t have a dish with these characteristics, you can use a baking sheet.

In a saucepan,  cook the milk together with the sugar and peanut butter. Do this over medium heat and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. This procedure should not take more than five minutes, remember to move calmly to speed up the process.

When the mixture has boiled, add the peanuts, which you must previously crush until they are small pieces, and stir until the mixture thickens. Once your preparation has thickened, you can remove it from the heat. Then pour it into the plate that you have prepared with waxed paper. Let it cool down a bit and with the help of a kitchen knife, cut the fudge into several small squares. When you’ve cut them, let them cool completely.

When they are at room temperature, you can finish separating the squares. You can serve them individually and they will be ready to be consumed. You can even give them as a gift by putting them in a decorated box, they will be a beautiful surprise.

Another way to prepare the fudge is by adding cream cheese and chocolate. What we suggest is to prepare the chocolate in a water bath so that it melts slowly with a square of peanut butter. After it has melted, add 75 grams of cream cheese. Then stir until it is a smooth and homogeneous paste.

Add this mixture to the preparation you have in the pot, just when you add the salted peanuts, and in this way you will get your peanut butter fudge. A dessert with a completely different flavor, although it is very tasty.

Additional tips

  • You can have as many options for peanut butter fudge as there are variants of this on the market, whether it is crunchy, salty, confit. You can even create your own recipes using almond butter or other types of nuts. You just have to keep in mind that the flavors should combine well.
  • For the sugar dissolving process, the temperature is important, therefore, we suggest using a kitchen thermometer to control it, it should not be higher than 115 degrees Celsius, and do not forget to stir at all times.
  • Don’t worry if it looks a little runny in the pot at first, once the sugar cools, along with the other ingredients, it will make the dessert harden, but a good amount of the liquid must have evaporated for this to happen.
  • Remember that peanuts tend to cause powerful allergies in many people (in fact the components of peanuts are one of the most common allergens that exist), therefore it would be prudent that, before preparing this or any other dish that includes peanuts, ask to your guests if anyone has a history of allergy to this nut.
